RE: Immunology drs

Why is it important they study evolution? Just curious. Thanks.

The human immune system basically functions as a fast evolver. And of course pathogens are also good evolvers. A nice little game of numbers. Most cutting edge medical research study is now so heavily genetic that to ignore evolutionary concepts would appear difficult. Lots of work is done transpecies, and understanding the evolutionary links provides the only viable framework.

It is interesting to me because the SDA church of which I am a member is very pro medicine. It runs a network of private schools from K - University. The college undergrad biology schools are largely pre-med, or geared to producing science teachers for their private high schools. Evolution is officially denied. Only a limited exposure is provided to undergrads. But research teachers and Docs and the medical U (Loma Linda University) routinely use evolutionary methods and concepts. Well, Dah! Most unfortunately, an undergrad biology degree from an SDA college is not particularly well received for many lines of work.

I just posted on that.

RE: "If you limit stealing and killing, you must also limit reproduction. "

And by Amy "For example, China limits reproduction and the net result is that this limitation actually saves MORE lives than it kills"

And how many people in PRC get a shot to their neck every year to keep up their "life saving" laws limiting Stealing, Killing and Reproduction?

According to Amnesty International closer to 5,000 people or so.
