Agreed. Personally, I'm sick and tired of all the posts here that label, by association or directly, Bush supporters as fascists, religious zealots and uneducated hillbilly gun nuts. I can't believe such posts are tolerated here while a post that, if it wasn't clear when posted, surely was upon his clarification, referred to no one here at all - even by implication or association - gets Dithers banned. Hypocritical act, to say the least.

Silly post
learn to read what is actually written please- and don't go taking off on what isn't there.
Bush isn't Hitler- but the PROPAGANDA is of the same ty[e (imo- and taking off on that article, which you probably missed). Try to read what is actually in the post, it's so... liberating.

It is interesting that you see a negative reference to Bush as an insult to yourself.

That seems to be common on the right. While moderates or liberals can recognize the flaws in their politicians in an objective manner, those on the right seem to see politicians as demi-Gods whose virtues can never be called into question.

We saw this when Reagan died. While in office it is beyond question that the man was already sliding into senility, between the time he left office and his death the right had built him up to be the equal of Washington or Lincoln.

I don't think a cult-like following is a good thing for a U.S. president, as it removes any checks on his power.

I don't think I have never equated Bush to Hitler, although I think I have either read or posted pieces by several columnists that make some connections or voice some concerns about the direction of Bush's administration.

But even if I had equated Bush to Hitler, I have certainly read extremely vile posts at SI about Bill Clinton, John Kerry, and other Democratic leaders. Whether or not I agree with these candidates or supported them, I have never considered attacks on them a personal insult in any way.

Everyone is entitled to their opinion of public figures and political parties. Voicing these opinions at Feelies is perfectly acceptable and is within the terms of use. I find it extremely bizarre that anyone is so sucked up into any particular political figure or political opinion that they would take frank discussion of the sort that appears on editorial pages all over the country every day personally when they see similar comments here.

If you cannot see the difference between a Feelies poster saying that leftists who post here are gleeful when soldiers die in Iraq, which is personally extremely insulting to actual individuals who post here, and intellectual comparisons of two political regimes which quite a few professional writers are airing in print recently, I cannot help you at all.
