Go to the "Multi Storey Tower Blocks" page from the "Blasting" link at the below link. It shows a good example of how little explosive is actually used to drop a building. The building they show, although half the height, looks much like the WTC 7 collapse. Approximately 8 pounds of explosive in 28 spots, and down she goes.

explosive-demolition.com

Absolute precision, two 24 storey, 60m high,
11,500 tonne tower blocks situated on a
triangular site, bounded on one side by a major
highway only 6m away, the other by a critical
railway line 25m away. No margin for the
unplanned or unexpected.

Blowdown + 8 seconds two perfectly formed
debris piles. Each block brought down by less
than 100 kg of explosives, 28 detonations
designed to take place over 1.5 seconds, the
first block detonated 2 seconds before the
other.

I also ran across this article which I thought was interesting, especially with the article it's linked to with some dirt on Silverstein. It appears there may be some connection to the heroine trade, and one of his buddies is Colin Powell. I wonder if he has a piece of the Afghanistan heroine action?

aztlan.net

I don't know how credible the source is, but it's an interesting read in spite of at least one obvious error.

I was looking for information on the systems used to detonate charges on implosion projects and got side tracked. I remember seeing an article that talked about a wireless system where the progression of the implosion triggers each charge in the sequence. I'll post it later if I can track it down.

Ray > Eric Hufschmid theorizes that the control center for the demolition of WTC 1 & 2 was the 23rd Floor of WTC 7

Except for two considerations:

1. It would have been very brave, in fact, foolhardy, for anyone to have remained in WTC7 during the demolition of WTC1 which is only one building (WTC6, where there was also a big explosion) and one street (Versey St) away.

2. Having the control center for the demolition of WTC1 and 2 in WTC7 would have required a second control center for the demolition of WTC7 itself.

I would argue that for safety sake the control center would have been some distance away from "Ground Zero" and common to all three (? four) buildings.
