The frame that the MSM uses is that the bible belt perceives of Hollywood as a land of secularists who don't have their values.

Sure, the author is secular, but what is there in his story that doesn't share "their" values? It seemed to me he was trying to say that he and most of Hollywood was just like them. Well, he's not "just" like them because he is a secular Jew rather than a practicing Christian. But what else was there in his story that differentiated him? If there is nothing else, then what does that say about "their" values? That if you're not a practicing Christian you are automatically "other" no matter what values and practices you have?
