he Bushies went to war because they wanted to -- they should have taken more time build a stronger coalition AND to make sure that ALL the troops would have appropriate armour and protection. If we wait until every member of a large armed force is equipped with the best possible equipment of every type than we will wait for ever. By the time everyone has what is now the best a new best will be available. Our soldiers were equipped better than they have been in any previous war "elective" or not. This is not just true in an absolute sense (obviously are equipment is better now than it was in World War II or Vietnam), but in a relative sense compared to the current state of the art, or compared to what our opponents are using.
