Fundamentalist Christians see pop culture as seduction aimed squarely at the hearts and minds of their children, and they're concerned about it. Perhaps they should be - I cringe when I hear young children swearing like stevedores.

I agree. I hate the coursening of our culture as much as anyone.

When the Fundamentalist Christians rail against pop culture, I and a lot of seculars are on their side. If your premise is so, it just demonstrates that their paranoia about secularism is off base and that secularism is an imperfect proxy for the real problem. You don't fix course culture by insisting on "Merry Christmas" rather than "Happy Holidays." Both are an equally vast improvement over "*$%(&!."
