You asked if people wouldn't be less angry if they read more. Well, I'm sure you know that the number of reluctant readers dwarfs the number of willing readers. The statistic used to be (for the US) that someone spent on dentistry what they spent on books (but this was before the Internet -- I read more now than ever before, from a wider ranges of sources). SI just presents you with a forum where the reluctant readers can, ironically, write. The problem is that they are angry, and getting angrier. Reason is already lost and calming and soothing is probably wiser at this point. People really don't want to hear about what's true, though... I accidentally harshed someone's buzz because they were talking about all the great houses being built in Salida (the central valley) ... this person is spending $500 / month commuting now. What are they going to do with doubled or tripled oil? Invest in commuter vans hopefully and not Salida housing.
