"So in the future when Korea, China or someone else launches a nuke at us you will be whining why we didn't have a missile defense system(just like the humvees)."

Doubt it. For one thing, I didn't say anything about humvees. For another, no one is going to launch a single nuke. They are going to launch enough to ensure that we aren't going to have assets with which to respond. Anything else is foolish. So if there is a launch, the survivors will be busy doing other things than complaining. And the brutal fact of the matter is they can't kill all of our assets. Nailing the subs, all of the missile silos, SAC bases and other nuclear assets just isn't going to be done by North Korea or China for the next few decades. Anybody who tries to marshall what they need to pull that off would send all kinds of signals before they could actually launch. Plenty of time to react in some appropriate manner. However, given the typical Republican response of reacting to a threat by, say China, by invading Brazil for instance, we might be in trouble...

What if "someone else" is the reincarnation of Timothy McVeigh? What if "someone else" is the same people who blackmailed prominent US citizens with anthrax-laden letters?

No need to be concerned. Our emergency defense system went to sleep for over half hour on 2001.09.11 and no one talked about it, and everyone only remembers the one in nyc and forget about the other two elsewhere. Just plenty of excuses to swallow and become the gospel truth, and in the meantime spend big bucks on futuristic D that may just fall asleep when needed.
