Hard to say - Ratherbiased.com has been reporting that there's a chance we won't see it at all. I suppose if CBS has given up any pretense of even *wanting* to regain some credibility, that fits. Cocktails and cockiness at CBS party — Kevin Craver @ 11:04 am According to a dispatch from the cBS Christmas party, the event was B.Y.O.H. (bring your own hypocrisy). An article in Broadcasting & Cable (subscription required) indicates that the rank and file at cBS are worried that the “conservative” Dick Thornburgh will not be fair and balanced, and be overly heavy-handed in his findings (quote courtesy of RatherBiased): “There’s a sense that [former AP chief Lou] Boccardi is ‘a journalistic fig leaf,’ as one insider claims, and that it’s the conservative [former Reagan attorney general Richard] Thornburgh leading the charge” with his law firm. These crybabies are the same lying reporters who tell us time and time and time again that the overwhelming liberalism in America’s newsrooms has absolutely no bearing on their ability to deliver impartial news. If you want to see just how politically left the Fourth Estate has become, click here and here and here. (The first link combines many studies to back my point). But Thornburgh’s “conservative” worldview immediately taints his and Boccardi’s findings as suspect in the eyes of cBS. As former head of the Associated Press, Boccardi is no “fig leaf” and likely will have an equal say in the final report. Aaah, I get it. A bunch of liberals in a newsroom = balanced. One conservative = biased. Seems the problems at cBS go much deeper than two idiots who were duped by a Texas nut case. The attitude of CBS does not paint an optimistic picture of any real change happening. The odds are against it – even if a) the investigation is not a whitewash, and b) it survives corporate attorneys who want to whitewash it, then c) it will be immediately discredited by cBS employees as the revenge of a vicious, bad and scary “conservative.” If cBS had a vicious, bad and scary “conservative” on its news staff to begin with, maybe, just maybe, none of this forged memo garbage would have happened. I don’t know, maybe it’s just me. Also, note to cBS: Don’t ask someone for their opinion and then get offended when they give it to you. If you wanted a report that shows that nothing is wrong, you could have saved money and hired Dan Rather and Mary Mapes to investigate what went wrong. I’m sure their findings would not cause a stir.rathergate.com
