Re. the regional subtleties: There are always subtleties everywhere and at all times. There is always a history. We do need to be aware of it, but not pre-occupied with it. As far as the ME, it is time for the region to move past its history. Can it? I hope so. I see what we are doing, to be a "kick in the ass". I think there's a good chance it will improve the region. It can't make it worse IMO.

How do you convince a Iraqi that the US is not after their oil when they see the US military rush to guard the oil wells and ingnore to guard their history and artifacts in their museums etc.
