<confusion of land cost to housing cost has cost many on this board their life savings.>

Don't forget trendy location costs. Or did you have that factored into land.

The house itself isn't costing a whole bunch more to build than 1 year, 5 years, or 10 years ago. Neither labor costs nor material cost have kept pace with the rise in housing prices.

Land prices, or the strange need to buy 1/5th acre lots in trendy locations comprising 40% of the total home price, have skyrocketed.

"Your house cost is the insurance cost to replace it. Look at your policy. If you make $50k I doubt it is over $100k"

is this the new math for the New Economy? I think I'll go out and try to buy a house somewhere without the land today.

Cheap is me. I make six figures++ and drive a $7,000 car. I am probably the inside joke among my peers.
