The only two cases of abortion that I've ever heard about was an older lady who was pregnant when her husband ran off with another woman and she didn't have the ability to raise two children alone - she said this was before the court system had invented alimony payments - back when our judicial system was purely male dominated. The other case I heard about was this married couple that had a child in poverty and couldn't afford groceries but got pregnant with a second which they aborted so the first child would have food. From what I read, the majority of cases of actual abortion are due to guys running off or poverty situations according to the federal govt, so it's interesting how the only two examples I've heard about exactly reflect teh fed govt's study. So it's puzzling Steve doesn't focus his attention on the underlying issues about the guys (meanwhile, the fed govt recently started an initiative to launch jobs for guys because the fed govt recently claimed that if a guy is working he is less apt to abandon a family and pregnant wife and then she is apparently less apt to resort to desparate measures. personally, I think they should launch an initiative for jobs for both sexes not just one. I thought it was a sexist assumption by the fed govt, but their statistics apparently show this is the underlying reason). He doesn't seem to be focused on the real underlying problems: poverty and male abandonment, like the fed govt now is, so that makes me think he's had some bad experience that's distorted his view from facts (which would be a horribly sad thing for a guy to go through.) Or maybe he simply has a different view on this - he has been a strong advocate for personal responsibility, which I agree with him is missing in our society so would concur with him on this part. But where we differ is in the right of women controlling their bodies and in the right of women to remain alive (meaning the govt neglected to include a right-to-live health clause.) Regards, Amy J
