Tenchusatsu, RE: "For men, that's the easy way out. Not a chance, buddy."

I agree. Back when I was dating, I would always bring up how I firmly didn't believe in abortion. That makes it crystal clear the person is going to be on the hook if he screws up. There was only one guy this was a problem with who I didn't date beyond one dinner (and I always had my own transportation) he had this overly aggressive gleam in his eye like he was thinking that would be a good way to trap me into marriage. Yeesh.

I think women from the prior generation believe abortion is a feminist right, whereas people that are into equal rights from my generation will convey to men they are against abortion to make it super clear they are on the hook if they screw up. Women shouldn't be used and men shouldn't heartlessly use abortion as their form of birth control, as if they think women have no value.

Having said that, most people from my generation believe other people have the right to control their own bodies. No male dominated Congressional leaders having affairs right and left should be dictating the rights of women's bodies, that is for sure. And most certainly not the type of Congress that doesn't even provide a health clause for women to remain alive - ridiculous. By the way, a friend of mine that got a PhD in Socialogy did a study on about 150 or so abortions and it turned out a substantial number of them were these weak nillied people that said they had to get an abortion because they were very religious and their church would reject them if they knew they were pregnant before marriage. I kid you not. This is why there are flyers up in churches - it's the target market. It truly amazed me. You would think religious people would be the last people to get abortions, but in her study they were the first in line. They had a strong fear of being ostracized by their church or families. I read all their responses (because I was helping my friend on mathematical pattern recognition of any trends) and I was absolutely sickened by their responses - they put their egos ahead. But not all churches are like this, I know of this one church where the members gathered around this pregnant 17 year old here in California and one of the members adopted her child - that's the best way for a church to deal with the situation. I was impressed. The 17 year old gets to see her child and be apart of the community and life. But my friend's study showed that churches have a fair share of hypocrits - they claim to be religious but their actions aren't. It was as if these people were more interested in belonging to a club than being genuinely religious.
