Indomethacid (Indocin Merck) was developed by Merck some 20 years ago. The following will give you pretty well all the info you need:

I believe Mobic in the States is Mobicox in Canada, both are marketed by Boehringer. Mobic/Mobicox is "sort of" a Cox 2 ie it is a Cox 2 when the company wants it to have the properties of a Coxib at not when the Coxibs are causing all the problems recently seen with Vioxx/Celebrex. Notice no mention of Mobicox so far. It was launched in Canada as a Cox 2 but was priced significantly lower then the other Cox 2's in order to secure reimbursement by the Provincial formularies. I am not sure the strategy in the US but with the exception of a few areas in the country its market share has lagged behind the other Cox 2's but I understand it has been the only "Cox" that has been growing the past few years. I believe if they play their cards right they could really benefit from the Vioxx removal,
Indomethecin was the active ingredient in the brand Indocid which was developed and marketed by Merck in the 70's and early 80's. Incrdeibly effective it was once the market leader in the arthritis Rx market. It has a very poor side effective profile with respect to GI but is a very potent NSAID at least as an oral. Mostly used orally now for gout arthritis as that tends to be difficult to treat and more acute ie falre ups so less risk of GI.
