Re: even at $50 rent per foot, it would take 30 years just to break even at $750 per foot to build. The number sounds high to me by a factor of at least four, but I admit it's not an area I'm overly familiar with. Comments?

I took a look at some recent transactions in NYC and they ranged from $320 to $825/sq. ft. in sales of existing low rise commercial buildings.

You should probably address this question to LPS5. He is a New Yorker. In fact, he was at the World Trade Center on 9/11/01. He'd probably have a lot more useful information than me about real estate on Manhattan.
