The idea that "God should be replaced" is not a superstition. Superstitions are beliefs which generally rely on the suspense of rational judgement and the embracing of beliefs that do not comport with science or reason.

If one considers "God" as the highest idealization that one may conceive of in terms of human value, then "replacing God" simply means leaving behind the cruel, brutal, ignorant, and superstitious thought of tribal humanity--where most answers were by necessity imaginary answers--and substituting the refined thoughts that the great thinkers of humanity have justly enriched us with through centuries of human intellectual progress. It certainly does not mean that the idea of God cannot be entertained and debated--it simply means that it demeans humanity to imagine a small, beastly, cruel, egotistical, and severely disturbed God invented by ancient tribes.

It means that acknowledging the "thought" and writings of people whose imaginary answers were unrelated to fact or reality 99.9 % of the time as having any value other than historical is to hobble your brain and your heart to the sense and sensibilities of those who knew less of the world and how it works than any typical modern child of perhaps the age of 4 or 5. Why stop there" Why not go back to praying to cats or trees--if walking upright causes so much discomfort? Why not get our knuckles back on the ground and forage for grubs and worms?
