"you seem to realize that there are lots of angles to things, that easy conclusions easily reached are pretty much worthless."

Thanks C2 and i always enjoy your posts because of your clarity in making your points. I am always all over the place and sometimes i wish i could stick to an idea a bit longer.
I had a con law prof back in college who had a big impact on the way i think--Hillman Bishop, a crusty old New Englander, accent and all. His favorite quote was "it all depends on whose ox is being gored." So the republicans supported the war because bush was pres but if clinton was pres, you would have dems for the war and reps against.
We all get wedded to our original beliefs on things for fear of being proved wrong, myself included. One needs to think and rethink opinions each and every minute of each and every day. What i perceive as the anti-american strain of some posters annoys the hell out of me--its like they are rooting against our success because of their hatred of bush. But the cheerleading bull shit on Cha Cha bills thread annoys me just as much. I remember a time folks threw stuff at me and said things like american love it or leave it but i also know in my heart of hearts that the american portrayed by guys like Watkins is dead wrong. Mike
