A scrappleface.com or theonion.com tag will indicate that it is humor, for sure.

I don't frequent the web, and don't know who is serious, or spoofing

Spoofs are by their nature over the top. Unfortunately so much of what is reported by so many sources is so outrageous that it's as over the top as the spoofs. If one follows those sources and believes what's reported, it's easy to not recognize a spoof without a scorecard. If The Onion says it, it's a spoof. If Rush says it, a million Dittoheads say "amen." It seems to me that when we can't tell the spoof from serious assertions, it's time to reevaluate our news sources.
