Let's agree that it was a factor in bringing about an ultimate political crisis for Hitler to capitalize on, and also that it directly fed hyper- nationalist grievance, and thus, to a degree, may have exacerbated anti- semitism. Nevertheless, the Nazis neve won more that a third of the vote in an election, had fringe rivals, and were careful to moderate their anti- semitism until they had a firm grasp on power. (It took a few years before adopting the Nuremburg Racial Laws; longer for Kristillnacht; and even longer before beginning to round Jews up in concentration camps).
