Hello DaGushman,

Welcome to the thread or board as some like to call it. Please make yourself at home on our laid back place on SI.

To your question: Are those the only indicators that you use for your analysis?

My answer is no. Most of the charts that I post on the open thread are daily charts and seem fairly simple at first glance and for good reason. Once you do your homework, you don’t need too many indicators to look at in order to figure out where your stock is going.

My typical daily reference chart will include lower indicators:

Stochastic: 15-5-5 or 5-3-3
William’s %R 12
MACD 12,25,9
MACD Histogram

The upper indicators will include:

Bollinger bands: 20 with a deviation of 10/7 or so
An EMA of 20
Japanese Candlesticks

139.142.147.218

I normally don’t bother to include volume on my charts because I have already scanned for stocks that trade at least 1 million shares per day so to me volume is a given and not needed on my charts for me to see.

Now if I were day trading I would set this up much differently and you would see much, much less that I’ve listed above but I would also enlist some additional trading tools such as a quote streamer set to certain colors and L-II and 2 minute tick charts.

Feel free to ask questions because I tend to “over answer” or “under answer”.

Once again, welcome to the thread.

Reid

Vendit,

Thanks for the information.. Believe me, Don't worry about rambling, I appreciate any information you can provide.

I'm really interested in how you read your indicators...

For example:

I like LVLT now... Check out this chart(you will need stockcharts.com basic membership....)

Reasons why I like it our as follows:

ADSX: Green going up, Red going down.

STO's all turning upward.

PPO going up going to hit 0 in an upward direction.

MACD dark blue heading upward and going to break through 0.

Closing price above MA(9) near MA(20).

Am I crazy?

Thanks,
GUSH

Hi DaGushman,

Welcome to the thread, and please feel free to post anytime you like. Ask any questions, state any opinions, challenge anybody's analysis if you wish (I personally find that very helpful).
