I think it's like trying to get a contractor to show up. I remember when we were getting quotes for our new doors, we had about a 50/50 rate of no show. The housing boom is big here, and it's really difficult to get work done. There will be a housing crash- we're always boom and bust- then it will be easier to get home improvements done- if anyone has the money to do them.

You know what the California real estate cycle is like.

I have played the piano since I was 5. But I didn't have a piano for many years, just wasn't high on the priority list- now I have my mother's piano. It was very important to my mom that I keep as much of her stuff as possible. And she loved the piano. She would always point at it when I was down at her house visiting, and tell me how good an instrument it was, and that I MUST keep it. It isn't especially good- but she loved it, so I'll keep it. I'd forgotten how wonderful it is to play- and all my kids play instruments- the oldest is an excellent flutist, and the two younger children play clarinet. Before my children were born I decided they should all play band instruments, because the band kids at my high school were too darn busy to get in to much trouble. After having spent almost every weekend last year at band reviews, and most of my Friday nights watching my daughter play at football games, I can assure you that band kids are, indeed, kept too busy to do much of anything, except play in the band and do their homework :-)
