Your POV on convenience store coffee is quite similar to my experiences. The coffee usually sucks (burnt, bitter, weak, tastes like dirt, etc.) in comparison to what I brew at home.

The regional convenience store I spoke of is not like the others. I accidently found out how good their coffee was when I had to drive to DC & there was no coffee at home. When I stopped there for gas, I took care of my caffeine fix too. I was pleasantly surprised at how good it was. I only paid like 77¢ for a 22 oz. cup too (that was several years ago - it's more now, but still under a buck I think).

It's well worth driving the two extra blocks past Starbucks to save $2.50 - $3.00 for a larger cup of quality joe. Besides, I prefer a good Columbian most of the time anyway. The other flavors they offer are mostly the ones I go for when I'm in the mood for something different.

They really do use quality coffees too. And they offer a nice range of choices besides regular Columbian & decaf (but not as wide as Starbucks). They even have flavored creamers, half & half & milk for those who don't take it black. The coffee is guaranteed to always be fresh - after 30 minutes, any remaining coffee is tossed & a new pot brewed, etc.

FWIW, I completely agree about cup holders. How did we ever get along without them in the past? I also use a headset for my cell phone when I drive. I like it so much I use it all the time now & not just in my car.
