Marine Commandant Inspects Force Protection Armored Vehicle in Iraq
Tuesday December 14, 7:40 pm ET
LADSON, S.C.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Dec. 14, 2004--General Michael W. Hagee, 33rd Commandant of the Marine Corps, met with the First Marine Expeditionary Force in Iraq today to inspect the Cougar Hardened Engineer Vehicle (HEV), a mine- and blast-protected transport vehicle produced by U.S. manufacturer Force Protection, Inc. (OTCBB:FRCP - News).
General Hagee was accompanied by Major General Richard Natonski, Commanding General, 1st Marine Division, and Lieutenant General John F. Sattler, First Marine Expeditionary Force Commanding General, who led the recent, successful Marine urban battlefield operations in Falujah.

"General Hagee inspected the vehicle from top to bottom," said Donald L. Scattergood, a Force Protection field service representative stationed in Iraq and embedded with the 1st Marine Division, who was present during the Commandant's visit. "He said what is most important is saving the lives and limbs of Marines, and he was impressed with the Cougar, which is specifically designed for this purpose."

The Cougar H series is a family of medium-size mine-protected vehicles that can be produced in four-wheel or six-wheel models. The vehicles can be configured for a wide range of tasks including troop transport, Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD), command and control, reconnaissance, and as a lead convoy vehicle. The Cougar is being used by Marine combat engineers assigned to EOD teams in Iraq.

"We are extremely pleased that the primary Marine ground commanders as well as General Hagee were able to inspect the vehicle today," said Force Protection CEO Gale Aguilar. "Our first commitment is to keep the Marines and Soldiers who ride in our vehicles safe from the threat of mine blasts and other roadside explosives. Force Protection's vehicles meet this critical need."

Force Protection's vehicles incorporate state-of-the-art blast protection technology with American automotive components to ensure the strength necessary to withstand mine and ballistic attacks and the mobility to enable soldiers to accomplish their missions.
