For laymen especially, Laurie has a unique skill to communicate complex concepts in an understandable fashion. I learned more from this hour about the 1918 pandemic than I'd previously learned anywhere else. Laurie nails the mechanisms of genesis, cross-species transmission and ultimate threat of Asian avian influenza. If there are any experts who watch this, I'd love to hear if Laurie's got her fact straight. She sure can tell the tale well. But I have little basis for comparison.
