When this board started back in 2001, I warned "patron_anejo_por_favor" about his protoflio had setup to track the collasp of the real estate market.

The foundation of this board was about hedging loses in your home by shorting stocks. I did agree with his shorts on mortgage companies, but insisted by shorting a homebuilder to hedge a house he would end up losing on both ends.

People do foolish things with their home equity. I've known many who took money out of their homes to buy telecoms after the bubble "burst" in 2001 only to find it burst in 2002 again. Darn near as crazy as hedging falling property by shorting a stock that doubles every 4 years.

The way to win I am convience is to use the money made investing to pay down debt. My goal is to pay off my home in under 10 years. No debt is true wealth.

There I go trolling again...
