I am in favor of civil union. I would not contemplate tampering with the Constitution, which I am not sure I favor, were it not for the possibility of a judge over- riding the political process and using the "faith and credit" clause to force recognition of one state's policy throughout the nation. However, if constitutional precedent is followed, this cannot happen, so I am iffy about the amendment proposal.
