We had our first homosexual divorce filed here last week.
Another first for Massachusetts.

Naturally, it led the local newscasts.

No one cares how you regard it. You have the right to regard homosexuals, and what they do, however you want to. But you cannot, and should not, attempt to use the state to further your lack of regard for them. That is an abuse of state power (imo).

"because I, and most others, would not regard homosexual marriage on an equal basis anyway."

This isn't about you, and how you feel. Your personal life is about that, and your personal interactions with people are about that. But the state should not discriminate just because you "feel" you wouldn't regard homosexual marriages as equal. You, your feelings, the feelings of others, should not really weigh at all against treating people equally. All the things you say were said about blacks. It's so ironic.

Gedanken Experiment #1: "It seems to me apparent that [interracial and same race marriage] are not the same. Certainly I cannot just stop feeling that way. Thus, the supposed acceptance that was given by judicial fiat would be phony, because I, and most others, would not regard [interracial] marriage on an equal basis anyway."

Does it pass the stink test? No? Then you should change your view because people can't change their sexuality any more or less than they can change their race. Nor should they be marginalized because of it.
