Rambi, I realized you meant 10,000 years. I just like to check out boundary conditions and the bigger picture to get bigger trends.

It has been an exponential process for eons - and in such processes, for a long time, things seem slow, but they are gathering steam. Then, they seem to accelerate away and are often surprising to lots of people. By the time they realize they are in trouble, the newcomer has exponentialed their way into top-dog position.

Perhaps 10,000 years ago, progress seemed rapid compared with the preceding 100,000 years. But it was about 2000 years ago that things really got going and only 200 years ago that they took off and only 20 years ago that things have gone completely nuts with the overlay of meme evolution [which you described].

< the basic biological state remains very much the same.
> I don't agree with that. I think a reasonable analogy is the way both hardware and software and content have developed with computers. We don't just run Windows XP on the old 286. Hardware, software and content are all burgeoning and I think that's the same with brains.

I don't believe ANY Neanderthal could be trained to be an ordinary person, let alone a whizz-kid. I think we'd be struggling to find somebody from 2000 years ago to train and make them into an Irwin Jacobs. We certainly wouldn't find many. I think the Flynn Effect has been running a lot longer than 100 years.

Here's what's going on in human brainpower and GDP per capita. Scroll to the bottom for relative brainpower in different countries. lagriffedulion.f2s.com He also figures out why Ashkenazic Jews are so dominant in many intellectual spheres. lagriffedulion.f2s.com

Much better than education is to pull out a bigger brain.
