There will be plenty of time to get long in the first quarter of 05. I'm going to see what the market tells me when Santa has left town. I have not always been a bear, but currently I see quite a few lumps of coal.

I agree that we humans don't care for change. Objective is a different matter. I'm ready to reverse my positions overnight, but I need something more than a projection based on demographic expectations. Expectations and spending and investment patterns can change.

With the exception of a large bet on bullion, I am currently positioned rather neutral. I have just a few shorts, and just a few longs and combined they are just a fraction of the funds available for speculative investment.
