That is really sad about your husband's chicken, Ionesco. Birds are very intelligent and sensitive. I think it is fascinating that dinosaurs are related to them. There was an art documentary about chickens on PBS a couple of years ago. It had a very brave chicken in it who puffed up and defended all of her children from a predator. She was willing to die for them. I think chickens are really good parents. Someday Mr. Grainne wants to live in a little cottage in Ireland and have a few friendly chickens out back who would eat the finest organic vegetarian feed and maybe lay an odd egg for us occasionally, only if they felt like it of course, and die of old age someday.
