Janice, as you note, what you read about the trial is not a complete account of what is happening in the trial.

It is a case full of legal nuance, addressing some grey areas in the law. Much is subject to interpretation.

I am grateful that we do have a jury system and impartial judges. My observation is that the judge is doing his best to be fair and that the jury will try very hard to answer the questions correctly. These jurors sit through day after day of legalistic testimony and I'm certain will discuss the law and the evidence until a reasonable consensus is found.

Sadly, those who have only 1/100th the information will strongly maintain their own opinion, regardless of the jury's considered and informed decision.
