I don't either. I can't stand peering into other people's lives and personal business, whether it's a friend or complete stranger.

I'm very reluctant to ask personal questions even of my immediate family. As for the rest, I usually couldn't care less. Most of the people that appear on shows like Dr. Phil have to ask themselves "how important is it?"

Depending on the circumstances, I add "will this matter tomorrow, next week, month, year?"

99 times out of 100 the answer is a big fat NO!

But it seems that there are millions of people who are either nosey, get pleasure from other's pain, or feel whole by placing themselves in an empathetic or sympathetic position. Perhaps people feel like they've bonded with the human race by getting in touch with their more sensitive self?
