Thanks. Nice to be here. I enjoy political debate but to often on the political threads people assume the worst about their debate partners. They aren't just considered wrong, but stupid or evil.

I can't even imagine the pain and suffering they endured.

One of the fascinating things about studying anthropology is how happy people seem to be, in general. Even in the most extreme environments, be it the Sahara desert, Siberia, Mongolia, or New York City, people in general seem to be relatively cheerful most of the time.

At least, that's the way they seem to me when I look at photos of them, or watch documentaries about them, or read books or monographs about them. They just seem to keep plugging along, looking on the bright side.
