Neolib, you misunderstood me.

A 33% reduction has been in the works for Gen X and Gen Y, for decades now. This has nothing to do with Bush's proposal. If you look at your annual SS report (that all working Americans get), you'll see the 2/3 benefits mentioned (i.e. 1/3 reduction). So, that already exists.

Bush's proposal is a 40% reduction. That's only 7 pt drop, in exchange for 16% less in taxes (thru privatization). So Gen X or Gen Y probably would prefer the Bush deal.

I hope that makes more sense.
