OT ... Amy J, re hint #1, hint #2, and hint #3

Wouldn't it be much simpler for you to just name (three, or two, or even) one Chinese company that's currently a major player in one market segment of consumer electronics?

Like Elroy, I know of none ... but then I'm only really familiar with the cellphone and PC segments.

Ron

actually, I think some amount of paranoia about China is healthy. After all, Dell sprouted up right in the middle of the "zero sum game" period when pretty much the whole world was conceding ALL business to Japan, Inc.

Its just that some people, some high technology leaders especially, go over the deepend on China, to the point where they dog US workers and US productivity (probably to support their own selfish agendas actually)

I work with a China based contract manufacturer and we just pulled our manufacturing of the high end lines back to Houston, in the USA. Our primary customer base for the products we build is the financial services industry which is a USA and Euro market not likely to be cannibalized by Asia. Then we have the cost of customizing the high end products and moving them out of China, doesn't work... too many mistakes... logistics costs etc. China didn't work for us. There is more to building great products than the cost of labor, is my point. Just like the Dell piece points out.
