At the time, that was needed to prevent such things as the mandated Anglican church in Britain, and the Catholic domination of nations such as Spain, and Italy. They don't say that religion should not be allowed in the nation. They don't say that a group of people of the same religion do not have the right to form a political bloc, and decide how they want to vote. Above all, they did not say that one religion should bow to the wishes of another, or the wishes of atheists, wiccans, druids, Black Panthers, or the KKK. Yes. Are we arguing about something? Your tone suggests that you expect disagreement. Today's an odd day for me on PfP. I keep getting lectured about things with which I'm well acquainted. Pretty soon someone will be arguing that the sky is blue and grass is green.
