I'm glad you asked.
At the very least it poses a foreign affairs issue for this country as far as- do we recognize such marriages in America when they have taken place in Canada between Canadian citizens? What if they want to move to the US? What if American citizens go to Canada to marry? I'm sure it will pose numerous international law question WRT to immigration, benefits earned in the US by Canadian citizens, custody issues, and taxation questions. I could probably think of more international ramifications, but since you really aren't interested, I'll stop with what I've mentioned so far.
