It's deducted from your regular leave time but it gets pushed through. Or used to. 30 years ago I was in Germany in the 581st and my dad had an operation. Red Cross told me that. I knew the doc so no need to go. They also ran a day care center for kids manned mainly by wives of service men. Got a square at noon and kept out of trouble for around 50 cents a day.
