Three Cheers for Powerline!

Time Magazine proclaimed George W. Bush "Man of the Year," in a rare triumph of common sense within legacy media. The magazine also correctly branded Powerline as "Blog of the Year." This recognition is greatly deserved but also a little ironic --as if, in 1940, the radio networks got together to award a "television reporter of the year" award.

Powerline's success is simply the product of three very smart minds, excellent research and writing skills, and exceptional good humor. Time's recognition will really rankle the tired old growlers at the Star Tribune, where editorial writers and columnists have been sneering at Powerline's writers and their fellow bloggers for most of the past year.

And Dan Rather can't be too happy to see a big MSM salute to the very blog that elevated a FreeRepublic post into a national story that ruined Rather's reputation and his farewell tour while perhaps saving the electorate from weeks of baseless speculation on what young George Bush did or didn't do as an Air National Guard pilot.
