There was an article about it in local paper

"It was nothing intentional,'' said Darius, whose only fine for a hit came in 2001 in the preseason against Kansas City's Priest Holmes. "I love to play this game 100 miles an hour, and I would never do anything outside the rules.''
He was also interviewed on local station and said he was aiming to hit the ball.

Missed it by a mile. Sure did look like a cheap hit to me too.
