Al, R U serious?

Only one of the four original statements, IMO, is a gross infringement on privacy. The other three are common law enforcement practices (close surveillance, profiling, undercover agents).

The "nuance" that you are missing is to what extent such enforcement practices ought to be applied. Why shouldn't mosques be closely surveilled by the government if they are suspected of supporting terrorism or spouting their beliefs? Why shouldn't citizens be profiled, unless you want old ladies being randomly chosen for strip searches just to "spread the pain" across social and ethnic boundaries? Why shouldn't undercover agents be used to nail suspected supporters of terrorism?

If those practices are applied haphazardly to anyone or any organization simply based on their Muslim identity, then that's going too far. But the statements never made that distinction clear. And the fact that I had to point this out to you shows exactly how quickly you and others on the left are willing to jump to conclusions and judge the prejudices of others.
