Risking the lives of troops is the nature of war. Adding risk or not mitigating risk because of some form of bean counter mentality is wrong. Bush is in a box with Rummy. I dont think that he will fire him ever. At some point Rummy will offer to resign. Mike

But...both men are nice and well intended. And as Bush said about Rummy, he is compassionate. He even goes to the hospital to visit the troops. And I can see the anguish in his eyes, no strike that, his voice when he talks about the troops.

This is Bush defending Rummy today on TV...

The road to hell was paved with good intentions. The road to evil is like wise.

After today those cry baby troops will be wanting something more substantial than tents for protection from mortar and missiles. Guess Rummy can now say you don't need armored vehicles, hell you can get killed in your tents at any time! Bush will keep Rummy for the duration, he's his lightning rod for the debacle in Iraq.
