the cure sounds worse than the illness!

Well, I thought so for years myself. Both my father and one sister use a CPAP, and suggested I try it, but I didn't like the idea, but by the end of 2003 I was ready for it. Severe sleep deprivation is worse than the machine.

I need to order a new mask, I broke the one I like (ResMed Ultra Mirage), and bought one that isn't as nice because I could buy it locally rather than wait a couple of days to have one shipped. The Ultra Mirage has a little soft flexible bit that stays tighter than the spare mask.

I don't know if you've ever used Google Groups, but there are several that are devoted to topics related to sleep apnea, including this one:
groups-beta.google.com

Lots of info there. I suspect that getting good sleep is one reason my rheumatoid arthris has been less troublesome lately.

I have a lot of warm clothes from my hunting days. The Jesus coffee house is looking for such. Since you have done work with these people I'm looking for tips on how to deal with them. I remember don't look them in the eye. That seems, well kind of unfeeling.
