<Unprovoked and unilateral are not the same thing> Unilateral in war is merely one prong of our approach. We take a similar approach on other global issues -- the environment for example. We assign ourselves the right to do as we please as we have on greenhouse gasses. Washington was once a place where global leadership was exerted -- now it is just a place where American leaders display their ignorance and disdain for the rest of the world. We reserve the unilateral right to set environmental standards that are a threat to the world. Again, the usage is "one-sided" -- "unprovoked" being the example usage in the case of war. Unilateral is closely associated with the uni-polar world that we believe exists -- and that we believe we have a divine right to dominate as we see fit -- others be damned.
