EP,

Look at Wisconsin. It spends a huge amount on education. Jobs are leaving; no growth (save NA Casinos); high taxes; corruption, etc. Liberals there are living under an illusion that costs them dearly. Milwaukee's property tax increased 7% this year -- no end in sight. Eau Claire's by over 25%. Gross spending on education (all levels) has no effect on the economic well-being of the state, again, except for those who work for the UW system, the state, or K-12.

The other cheeseheads are told--"be happy" and they are.

Proof the argument: if educational spending is good, double it and see what your returns are. Don't think so.

So, the state spent 650K to design a web page about a new interchange in Milwaukee. No scandal, just progressive gub'ment, even as they mock southern states. No, educational spending is a waste for the states that buy into logic.

Oh, and fwiw, about 2/3 of the grad students are forex(!)

Again, who is subsidizing whom?
