"Real safety for the US would involve energy independence and a gradual strategic withdrawal from the ME by the US in favor of the UN. Let Israel be treated as are the Arabs. It would serve them right to have the shoe on the other foot for a while." That's what I would like to do. Seems like we have been involved in the "peace process" forever and we just keep getting farther from peace. We aren't responsible for the Israel/Arab situation so I don't see why it is our responsibility to fix it. Let the UN deal with it. Really the entire region is just a gas station for us, we have no other interests there.
