No one said that some of the insurgents weren't bad guys. Your logic underwhelms me, because that is no justification for U.S. troops to commit war crimes. The insurgents were not even there until we toppled Saddam and the tight hold he had on all the factions in Iraq was released. Many of the insurgents are just everyday Iraqis who might have even loved what the Americans were doing when they got rid of Saddam, but now have come to hate us. And al-Qaida and everyone else who wanted to cause trouble is there now, also. BUT THESE ARE RESULTS OF AMERICAN OCCUPATION, NOT CAUSES. Too bad we dismantled the Iraqi army and the entire power structure. We could have just taken out the top of the Baathist party, but noooooooo . . . so we are in a horrible mess. And Bush invited the terrorists to all come--remember "bring it on!" This is what he actually desired.
