S&P cuts Delphi credit to 'junk' status (DPH) By Tomi Kilgore
NEW YORK (CBS.MW) -- Standard & Poor's downgraded Delphi Corp.'s (DPH) corporate credit rating to "BB+", which is the highest "junk" rating, from "BBB-" due to expectations that the earnings outlooks will remain weak for the next few years amid challenging conditions in the automotive industry. S&P is also concerned about the company's dependence on General Motors (GM) , which has been losing market share in the U.S., and over the Delphi's underfunded employee benefit obligations. S&P also downgraded Dephi's short-term rating to "B" from "A-3." Delphi shares were last up 2 cents at $8.46.
