So long as the electoral college is in place, the voters in CA and NY and TX don't really have a say in the election. The first two will always go for the dem, the third for the repub.

Vote, don't vote, if you live in one of those states it doesn't matter. The candidates don't even have to campaign for your vote or pander to you.

FL and OH are the states that really decide the presidency, and where a vote makes a difference. In this election they decided who your president would be.

Small states like WI may make a difference or not, depending on how FL and OH go.

The electoral college effectively disenfranchises most Americans.

So I guess you only know people from the 6.25 Million who voted for Kerry, and none of the 5.11 million who voted for Bush. I don't think those that voted for Bush feel disenfranchised.

Your conclusion that Red states will have to rig the system to keep in power is flawed as is your assumption that once a Blue state - always a Blue State. How do you know the political leanings of those which will represent the 10-15% increase in population. Will they be leaning Red & leaving a Blue State or solid Blue & leaving a Red State? Will those who are already there and disagree with your politics suddenly become enlightened and see that you were right all along? What if Republicans have 2.2 children while Democrats have only 1.9 children and those children grow up and vote exactly like their parents?

So you really don't know if your Blue state today will still be Blue when you represent more people in the future, do you?
