Technology has improved productivity in all industries, and has
probably kept prices lower than they would have been otherwise.

The cost of living seems unacceptable to you, but I don't
find the cost of food, housing, gas, etc.. unreasonable,
not to mention my "whatever other gizmos we don't really need?"

Have not done a detailed study on the average family to prove or refute CPI numbers,
but the objective numbers overall probably aren't as bad as it subjectively feels individually.

> I figure there are little lies in CPI to keep guaranteed government
payments to vets and people on SS and medicare down on the farm.

Well, we/you are going off topic here.
You have a conclusion "government is ripping off little guy", so CPI must be wrong.
I usually go the other way, analysis then conclusion.

Sounds like "X should be higher, therefore it must be manipulated"
X=CPI
X=gold
X=whatever
